Spin masters

The party’s back on! After the Lightner Creek Fire put a damper on the grand finale to Clean Commute Week, organizers have rescheduled the soiree for tonight, Thurs., July 13, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Ska Brewing.

In addition to being a great excuse to hop on your cruiser and reward your effort with a cold beer or two, the festivities will also feature free food from Zia as well as prizes and live music from The Assortment.

And speaking of rewards, the winners of Clean Commute Week will be recognized, including champions in the Business Commuter Challenge. While all 30 organizations that participated are winners in our eyes – with a collective 10,685 clean commute trips the week of June 21-28 – there were some the rose, er rode, above the rest.

They are, based on company size from smallest to largest:

• Abadie Schill PC – Tiny Category, one to 10 employees

• Russell Planning and Engineering – Small Category, 11 to 50 employees

• Ska Brewing – Medium Category, 51 to 100 employees

• City of Durango – Large Category, more than 100 employees

And lest we be total spoilers, there will be one more surprise tonight: the naming of Durango’s Commuter of the Year. But to find out, you’ll have to spin on over.
