Last week, we reported about the Durango Fire Protection District’s plans to relocate to the 9-R Admin building at 12th St. and 2nd Ave. A major part of that plan was the City of Durango portioning off Buckley Park from the 9-R site. That happened Tuesday night, with the City finagling new property lines that expands the park to include the sledding area.
An old editor once told me about reporting the news: “If you put people in the hospital, you better take them out.” Well, we thrust you into the issues surrounding the Nov. 2 election, so we’re gonna get you out with a rundown of the results.
If you thought 2020 was bad, brace yourself for this one – almost 500 years ago, French astrologer Nostradamus predicted there would be a zombie apocalypse in 2021.

By now, you’ve probably heard of the Texas couple hiking with their infant daughter on the Purgatory Flats trail, north of Durango, who called for a search and rescue helicopter after spotting a mountain lion.
What hasn’t been addressed, however, is who ultimately paid for the flight out.
A little update from our friends in The Great White North, otherwise known as Silverton.
Back in June, we reported Silverton was headed toward yet another vote on whether to allow OHVs in town. Well, that happened Tuesday, and the results are in: OHVs will no longer be permitted to ride within town limits.
Next weekend, Fort Lewis College mountain bikers are going to party like it’s 1990. From Oct. 14-17, the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships descend, quite literally, on Purgatory, home to the fabled 1990 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
