Purg announces lower pass prices for 2018/19 season

Hasta la vista, La Niña

It may not have been the best ski season in memory, but the powers that be at Purgatory are hoping to ease the pain. The resort announced a $50 drop in its early bird season pass prices for the 2018/19 season, as well as free season passes for the mini shredders fourth grade and younger.

Also known as the “Power Pass,” season passes are now available for purchase for $599 through April 20. Once again, the immensely popular installment program is available in 10 monthly interest-free payments of $60.

The 2018/19 Power Pass includes unlimited access to Purg’s four sister ski areas: Snowbowl (Ariz.); Pajarito and Sipapu (N.M.); and Hesperus. It also offers three free days at partner resorts: Copper, Loveland, Monarch, Eldora and Sunlight (Colo.); Powder Mountain (Utah);  Snowy Range Ski Area (Wyo.); and more.

“We’re excited to offer the lowest price ever on the Power Pass,” Purg’s owner James Coleman said in a news release. “By lowering our pass prices, we’re continuing our goal of making skiing more affordable while offering an excellent value.”

In other news, walk-up lift tickets will remain the same in 2018/19 as they were this year at $89.

New this summer is the Summer Adventure Pass, which provides daily access to five activities at Purgatory Resort, including the new Inferno Mountain Coaster (opening this summer), alpine slide, scenic chairlift, bungee trampoline, ropes course, stand up paddle boarding, big air bag jump, summer tubing, and more. Individually priced at $199, the Summer Adventure Pass may be added to any Power Pass for $100. Window rates for five summer activities are $59.

In addition, Power Pass holders can buy a Mountain Bike Power Pass for an extra $100 (regularly $199) which provides unlimited uplift access at Purgatory and Pajarito. Both resorts are said to be upping their bike park game with new trails, events, festivals, racing, clinics and camps. This summer, Pajarito will also be hosting cross country, enduro and downhill races.

“Our new pass structure provides a lot of great opportunities for our guests,” said Coleman. “For those who are primarily interested in winter, they save with the new lower-priced Power Pass. Our summer-only guests visiting Purgatory or Pajarito now have a new option that saves them money at the ticket window with the new summer passes. And for those who enjoy both seasons, they can easily add the summer option to their pass.”

In addition to the Power Pass, there are a variety of passes offered for parents, kids and weekday skiers:

• The Purgatory Weekday Pass - $349 ($40 savings), valid Monday - Friday (with blackout dates Dec. 26 – 28 & 31 and Jan. 1, 2019)

• The Purgatory Parent Transferable Pass - $599 ($50 savings over last year ) for parents with kids age 3 or younger.
