Skiing with the stars

Looking for an after-work diversion or maybe a chance to get the young’uns out on skis in a low-pressure setting? Purgatory Resort is now offering nightly skiing on the Skiway and Graduate Runs off Lift 7 (Graduate Lift) until Hesperus has enough snow to open for the season. The lift will run from 4 - 7 p.m. Sun. - Thurs., and 4 - 9 p.m. Fri. - Sat.

“We’re always looking for ways to expand skiing, and enhance our guests’ enjoyment on the slopes,” Colin McBeath, general manager at Purgatory Resort, said in a news release. "We’re excited to offer night skiing again at Purgatory, which was last offered at the resort approximately 17 years ago.”

The Columbine area will open for the season this Saturday, at 9 a.m. In addition to skiing under the lights, the resort also announced the addition of the Elevation Station to the Columbine area. Offering chili, soup, mac and cheese, and beer, wine, soda and hot cocoa, the Elevation Station will be open Fridays and Saturdays 4 - 9 p.m., and Sundays through Thursdays 4 – 7 p.m.

"You can now enjoy top to bottom skiing during the day and then continue your fun on the snow under the lights at Purgatory,” stated McBeath.  “It’s the perfect way to end your day.”

Night skiing lift tickets are $25, available at the ticket office in the plaza or in the Columbine area. Night skiing is included in the cost of a day lift ticket and for Purgatory and Hesperus season pass holders.
