Pickleball at mall a win-win

Pickleball indoors year round can happen. The Durango Mall has only four businesses in the whole mall. How about the city contact the owners of the mall and offer to give them a tax break, and the city could make pickleball courts. The mall has A/C, heat, electricity, bathrooms and is clean and neat.

The city could charge a yearly fee for this or a day use, as we do for the Rec Center. This would be run year-round by employees from the city. This may also bring new shops to the mall: food, beverages, sports. 

The big selling point is the owners of the mall get a tax break from the city. They need to be taken care of if it is to work. No need for the city to build indoor pickleball courts as this may fade out in the future.
