Protect biodiversity

Colorado prides itself on a rich heritage of biodiversity, with over 75% of its 155 endangered species being plants. To put it plainly, a staggering 119 plant species stand on the brink of vanishing forever. Furthermore, our state is a haven for more than 1,000 native pollinator species – from bees to butterflies – that are pivotal to the tapestries of our ecosystems. These tireless beings not only dazzle us with the beauty of spring blooms but are also indispensable for the fruition of our cherished local produce, like Paonia cherries and Palisade peaches.

Alarmingly, a January report unveiled a grim reality: nearly 20% of our state’s bumblebee species teeter on the edge of extinction, now being considered for Endangered Species Act protection.

This is the clarion call to action we cannot continue to ignore. HB24-1117 is a beacon of hope, proposing the empowerment of Colorado Parks and Wildlife – the authority most equipped to safeguard our imperiled pollinators and flora – to take up the mantle of conservation.

Please consider advocating for HB24-1117. By pledging your support, you contribute to the preservation of our native species and ensure that Colorado’s ecological richness thrives for generations to come.

Your voice matters. Help protect Colorado’s pollinators and unique species.
