Salka is the clear choice for La Plata County

It’s essential to support leaders who demonstrate commitment, integrity and a genuine understanding of the needs and challenges facing our county. I am compelled to express my full support for incumbent Matt Salka, whose proven track record and strong moral compass make him the only viable choice.

Matt Salka has been a dedicated and effective county commissioner, putting the needs of La Plata County first. He understands the intricacies of local government, advocates for responsible growth and has consistently focused on policies that benefit our community as a whole. Matt’s intelligence, deep-rooted values and commitment have earned him respect and trust. He is not motivated by personal gain but by a sincere desire to see our county flourish.

In stark contrast, Paul Black, the opposing candidate, lacks both experience and qualifications. Black inherited his wealth and his ranch from his father, and rather than coming to this race with genuine public service experience, he appears to be running primarily to advance his own interests. Paul’s interest in the office may be more about sidestepping regulations than serving the public. His self-proclaimed “expertise” in water conservation remains unsubstantiated, leaving voters to wonder what he actually brings to the table.

La Plata County needs a commissioner with experience, dedication and a clear sense of responsibility – not someone insulated from the realities of public service and accountability. Paul Black’s motivations appear self-serving and misaligned with the office he seeks to hold. In comparison, Matt Salka has dedicated his career to working for the people of La Plata County, not personal gain.

As we approach this election, I encourage every voter to consider not only the qualifications but the integrity of the candidates. Matt Salka has repeatedly shown his commitment to La Plata County through years of diligent, community-focused service. He is the right choice, and he deserves our continued support.
