Same ole tune
I have been writing for more than a year to stop the killing of wolves in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. Hunters are allowed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to lure wolves across the Yellowstone National Park border into Montana to be killed. Now, 50 Yellowstone wolves (half of the wolves in Yellowstone) have been killed using barbaric methods: snares, aerial shooting and dynamiting of dens. All legal and sanctioned by Fish and Wildlife.
One of the highlights of my life was to view the wolves, grizzlies and bison in Yellowstone. It is the park’s mission to protect these magnificent wildlife, which are part of our heritage. Wolves were reintroduced and listed as Endangered species, but former President Donald Trump delisted them, and President Joe Biden and Secretary of the Department of Interior (which oversees Fish and Wildlife and the National Park Service) Deb Haaland have done nothing to stop this murder of wolves.
Science has shown wolves are a keystone species that improve the health of an ecosystem. Ranchers should use Anatolian dogs to protect livestock, not gruesome lethal means. Please contact Haaland, and ask her to protect the wolves remaining in Yellowstone and the northern Rockies.
