Going big

There is always a skier or snowboarder doing something super cool at one of Purgatory Resort’s five terrain parks. Whether it's riding rails or catching some air, our local rat pack has some pretty groovy moves. Last weekend, though, they had some rivals as the USASA Slopestyle Competition rolled through town with The Southwest Colorado Snowboard and Freeski Series. The series, which caters to younger athletes, brought talent from around the region to Paradise Park for two days of competition to see who is the grooviest of them all. Hosting about 160 competitors each season in places like Durango, Telluride, Crested Butte and Powderhorn, the series ensures catching big air with the rat pack will never be in short supply.
