Looking Back

What better way to connect with our past than visiting an old cemetery? La Plata County’s unique cultural heritage can be accessed through var- ious physical resources that are easily available to us. Throughout the county, historic bridges, churches, mining structures, granges, and school houses (just to name a few) offer us a first-hand local history lesson that helps to illustrate our region’s past. To plan your own tour, La Plata County’s historic register can be referenced at: lpccds.org/planning/historic_preservation/historic_register. Remember to respect private lands and enjoy!
