Moon Dance

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly behind Earth and into its shadow cast by the sun. When these three celestial objects reach perfect alignment, the only visible light upon the lunar surface has been refracted by the Earth’s atmosphere, appearing to our eyes as gentle hues of orange, red and yellow. Otherwise known as a blood moon, this cosmic event is a sight to behold. Here’s a look at the most recent total lunar eclipse as seen from the Animas Valley.
