Painted tundra

Castilleja, or more commonly known as Indian paintbrush, is currently stealing the show among the lofty swaths of alpine tundra in our nook of the San Juans. While the abundance of wildflowers proliferating throughout the high mountains is jaw-dropping, there’s something special about the way paintbrush is able to max out the color spectrum.
