The other side of the mountain

What do they do with the moguls in the summertime? Or all the chairs? Used to be that these, and other great mysteries of the ski season, were left to the imagination. However, thanks to Purgatory Resort’s Conservation Education Program, "Learning on the Land,” folks can get a better understanding of just what their favorite runs look like underneath all that snow. In partnership with the San Juan Mountains Association and Forest Service, the public can take self-guided nature walks on the backside of the mountain to view the green side of Peace and frolic through the flowers of Boogie. Though hiking the Hermosa Parkway might be a bit slower than skiing it, it at least offers ample time to stop and smell the flowers. And look for where they hide the moguls.
