Creative endeavor

Create Art and Tea may have closed its doors earlier this month, but the nonprofit Art Guild of Create Durango that was housed there is still going strong.

According to Create Art and Tea owner and guild founder Caprice Fox, the guild is now based in the Smiley Building, where itshares a space with the Butterfly Artist Collective, another local artist organization.

Create first opened in the Durango Arts Center in 2018 before relocating to 1015 Main Ave. a few years ago. It displayed the works of more than 20 local artists, from fiber artists to painters and potters. In order to help artists offset losses of revenue, Create held a silent auction before closing its doors that raised more than $4,000. However, Fox said the guild is still in need of donations to help keep it thriving.

“We have been building a support system and a safe, creative place for local artists since 2018. Many artists that started with Create Art and Tea … are now very successful on their own,” said Fox. “We have created a mini–community center that is quite extraordinary in how it meets the needs of many.”

Not so fast

Remember last year, when the Trump administration asked national park goers to “report any signs or other information that are negative about either past or living Americans or that fail to emphasize the beauty, grandeur and abundance of landscapes and other natural features”?

Well, it seems park-goers have pushed back, bigly.

Getting gassed

Gas prices are once again giving America something to complain about. And while the local beer meisters at Ska Brewing can’t fix the price at the pump, the brewery is offering one small bit of relief: a new light beer that costs one cent less than the price of a gallon of unleaded gas.

Introducing Ska’s newest brew: West’s Easy Light Lager, because “everything else is so hard.”

It’s a mash-up made in Westernwear heaven. Sort of. Seems Chaco, the purveyor of the iconic strappy dirtbag river rat footwear, has joined forces with Wrangler, as in tight jeans, big belt buckles, bull riding and snap shirt fame.
