A chance of sprinkles
Homer Simpson would’ve been in all his glory on Wednesday in Denver as doughnuts literally rained down from the sky as part of a promotion from LaMar’s Donuts. The Kansas City chain with headquarters in Denver used drones to drop bags of the “dronuts” at various locations throughout the city, including the City and County Building, Denver Fire Department, 16th Street Mall and – of course – Denver Police HQ.
Unfortunately, drone delivery won’t be a regular occurrence, although in honor of National Doughnut Day on Fri.,
June 2, the store – as well as most other doughnut purveyors worth their weight in fried fat – will be giving away free doughnuts.
And in case you want to mark your calendar for next year, National Doughnut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of every June as part of a tradition going back to 1917 when Salvation Army volunteers, known as “Lassies,” made doughnuts for WWI soldiers.

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
