Don't stop beliebering
Is it time to move on from shower serenades or car karaoke? Aspiring local Kelly Clarksons and Adam Levines can
once again test their vocal chops on the big stage with the return of the Durango Voice.
The annual fundraiser for Manna takes place again in April, but auditions are being accepted now (sorry, “pre-professionals” only.) To try out, send your two-minute MP3 demo to DurangoVoice2@gmail.com by Wed., Jan. 24. (It’s OK to have a backing music track, just no lip syncing.) Be sure to include your name, phone, email address and a short bio.
Winning contestants will then face off in the Voice semi-finals at the Henry Strater Theatre on Sat., Feb. 24. From there, the last singers standing will be professionally coached for several weeks by a pro and return to the Strater on Sat., April 7, for the grand sing-off. Prizes, in addition to free singing lessons and seeing one’s name in lights, or at least flyers, on Main Avenue, include gig opportunities throughout Durango. Which isn’t to say, you can’t still sing in the shower from time to time.

On most days, Tracy Harwood spends her time as a court clerk for the City of Durango. But next Thurs., June 4 – International Corgi Day – she hopes to bring something entirely different to town: short legs, wiggly butts and oversized personalities.

It’s a mash-up made in Westernwear heaven. Sort of. Seems Chaco, the purveyor of the iconic strappy dirtbag river rat footwear, has joined forces with Wrangler, as in tight jeans, big belt buckles, bull riding and snap shirt fame.

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
