Flat-up broke? Before you go through with the kidney donation, the Four Corners Film Office may have a better, less painful solution.
The local film production agency announced a call for extras for the Scott Cooper Western “Hostiles” being filmed in Chama on Sept. 20.
Described as a “classic Western,” the film is set in 1892 and follows the story of an Army captain who reluctantly escorts a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory. Hijinks ensue – or not. The film stars Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike and Wes Studi.
The cast call is good for the whole family (granted you’ll have to pull the kids out of school), with a need for men, women and children in nonspeaking roles. The pay is $10.91/hour with overtime after eight hours (they work 12-hour days.)
If interested, submit a photo to casting director Elizabeth Gabel, along with height, weight and phone number to: egabelcasting@gmail.com.
Other productions taking place in the area include Animal Planet’s “Finding Big Foot” and an episode of HGTV’s “Log Cabin Living.”

It’s a mash-up made in Westernwear heaven. Sort of. Seems Chaco, the purveyor of the iconic strappy dirtbag river rat footwear, has joined forces with Wrangler, as in tight jeans, big belt buckles, bull riding and snap shirt fame.

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
