Bischoff soon-to-be-shorn facial hair
In one of the more novel fund- raiser/spectator sport ideas we’ve heard of, a local bike shop owner will be taking it all off to help two worthy causes.
On Tues., Oct. 25, the beloved and quite impressive goatee of Pedal the Peak’s Gary Bischoff will be shorn off for charity (Note: this Gary is not to be confused with Second Ave. Sports’ Gary Proven- char, who, as far as we know, is planning on keeping his goatee.)
None other than Isador from Tucson’s Barber Shop will be doing the honors, and the clippers get fired up at 5 p.m. at Carver Brewing Co. Tickets to the dehairing cost $10 (which includes a free beer), and proceeds go to Trails 2000 and Cooking Matters.
We hope Bischoff is sheerly delighted with his new look.

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
