Getting literal
If sidewalk scrubbing is a little too much action for you, why not retreat to your favorite sunny nook for some escapism with local writers? The Ignacio Writers Group recently launched its first literary journal, Cedar Moon, 40 pages of works by 15 local writers including essays, short stories and poems. The project was headed up by none other than the Telegraph’s unofficial poet laureate, Burt Baldwin.
“In the spring of 2016, I held a writers work- shop for the patrons of the Ignacio Community Library,” says Baldwin. “After the sessions were over, a number of attendees wanted to continue the writing experience ... so with a half-dozen interested souls, we continued meeting.”

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
