Helping hands
Durango is no stranger to helping out when needed, and today two long-time residents are in need of help from their neighbors.
A GoFundMe site has been set up for Dickie Jones, longtime friendly Purgatory lift mechanic, and his wife, Diane. Diane was recently hospitalized for health problems related to addiction and depression. Unable to work, she faces a long road to recovery. Now, with only one income, Dickie’s bills continue to pile up.
In an effort to help, friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the couple’s mortgage, and everyday living and medical costs. If you’d like to learn more or donate any amount you can, visit www.gofundme.com/y3et2.

On most days, Tracy Harwood spends her time as a court clerk for the City of Durango. But next Thurs., June 4 – International Corgi Day – she hopes to bring something entirely different to town: short legs, wiggly butts and oversized personalities.

Turns out, blondes do have more fun, or at least they get more awards. Last week, Ska Brewing won the gold medal for its True Blonde Ale in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup. This is the third win for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, held in Philadelphia on April 22 and pegged as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions.
