Lamb chops

Ever wanted to know what is was like to ride one of the toughest climbs in the Tour de France? Carrying all your gear, in the freezing cold as a massive snowstorm bears down? Uphill? Both ways?

Well, now you can live the sufferfest that is the Alps’ third-highest pass, the Col Agnelo, from the comfort of your favorite chair. Recent Animas High graduate Domi Frideger returns this week with his harrowing tale of epic two- wheeled survival at 9,000 feet. And don’t let the name – which roughly translates to “lamb hill” – fool you. The Col Agnelo can be a real beast.

Read all about it online this week in Domi’s semi-regular installment of “Homeless in Eu- rope,” at www.durangotelegraph.com.

And speaking of wild adventures, the Something Wild Film Festival is looking for your epic video exploits in the great outdoors.

The new local nonprofit will be putting on the inaugural “Something Wild” film fest Jan. 6 and is looking for submissions, up to 15 minutes.

“We want locals to ... show off their wicked skills in the backcountry, down the river, or on the asphalt,” organizer Derrick Casto said. The submission fee is $5 and films must be submitted by Dec. 27 to somethingwildfilmfestival@gmail.com. Those selected will be notified by Jan. 1.
