Surviving the golden shower

Surviving the golden shower

Just in time for Oktoberfest, shoe giant Adidas has introduced the ultimate drinking partner. Appropriately based off Adidas’ “Munchen” design, the Oktoberfest model is billed as “durable puke and beer repellant” – or DPBR for short (we’re sure the PBR part of the acronym is purely coincidental.)

Even better, the shoes are made of brown leather and light brown stripes to hide the unsightly stains until you can get yourself to the nearest hosing station. And speaking of hose, the color scheme is also meant to compliment most lederhosen (and dirndls).

“The majority of visitors are in traditional shoes, singing and dancing upon tables and enjoying the cool atmosphere. For those who do not want to give up on their beloved sneakers, Adidas Originals has now created the perfect sneakers for the Oktoberfest,” reads the German shoe retailer website 43einhalb.com. “And what kind of silhouette would be a better match than the classic Adidas Mu?nchen shoe? Inspired by the Bavarian leather pants, the Adidas Munchen Oktoberfest comes with high-quality leather and premium materials ... the rich brown colorway of the sneaker is combined with three light brown stripes and speckled laces.”

Other special touches on the shoes, which are lovingly handcrafted in Deutschland, include embroidery on the heel cap and a discreet golden “prost” (German for “cheers”) on the side.

“With this ‘Oktoberfesterization,’ the sneaker will survive every beer shower,” the site concludes. Alas, would-be Oktoberfesters can only procure the shoe from Germany, where it goes for a cool €199.95 (plus shipping.)
